The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) and International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) took place in Chandana conference room, IEB Building, SREDA Level-9, Ramna, Dhaka- 1000, Bangladesh on the 18th July 2018.
The ceremony began with general introductory remarks between the entities SREDA and ICCCAD. The ceremony was Chaired by Md. Helal Uddin, Chairman (Additional Secretary), SREDA and opening speech was delivered by Mr. Siddique Zobair, Member, (Energy Efficiency & Conservation), SREDA. Ms Salima Jahan, Member (Joint Secretary), Renewable Energy, SREDA and Dr. Saleemul Huq, Director, ICCCAD were the signatories of the MoU.
The purpose of this MoU is to enhance collaboration and strengthen knowledge practices on renewable energy in Bangladesh. The partnership will share and draw on the strengths and experiences, exchanges of learning and ideas of the policy makers, government agencies and other stakeholders on development of renewable energy sector. These exchanges will be done through dialogues by organizing on-demand Learning Hub Events (LHEs) on renewable energy that will catalyze to promote and advocate Renewable Energy prospects in Bangladesh. Awareness building and promotional approaches through newspaper articles, op-eds and engaging young generation through seminars series, innovative competition are considered as useful tools to contribute in bringing change in behaviors. This will ultimately build advocacy for Renewable Energy and promote the sustainable success in the coming months.
