Capacity-Building Day 2018 @COP24
Strengthening national capacity to implement low emission and climate resilient development strategies
11th of December (9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
Venue: PCCB Capacity-Building Hub
Today, global communities are moving inevitably towards a consensus on climate change and the need to reduce greenhouse gases as well as the need for adequate capacity for mitigation and adaption to the changing climate. As such, the article 11 of the Paris Agreement has clearly identified capacity-building as a pathway towards achieving the agreement climate goals and as a fundamental element for the engagement of all in climate actions.
As such, the Second Annual Capacity-Building Day 2018 organized as a one day event during COP24, aims to respond to the need of scaling up global climate capacity-building by bringing together diverse communities of practice to have in-depth discussions on building national capacity to implement low emissions and climate resilient development strategies. The event provides an opportunity for diverse communities of practice across regions to learn from successes, share knowledge and best practices and network with one another. The event is for COP24 attendees who are working on capacity-building or interested in capacity-building issues under the Convention. This event will include the following four sessions:
- Capacity-building towards a just transition and green jobs involving business, industry and workers
- Capacity-building for achieving low emissions and climate resilient strategies in cities, local government and communities
- Capacity-building to raise finance for low emissions and climate resilient strategies
- Capacity-building initiatives for low emissions and climate resilient strategies in transparency
