SHARE Hub at COP29

The Saleemul Huq Action Research Exchange (SHARE) Hub is a dynamic platform dedicated to bridging the gap between research, policy, and practice in the fight against climate change. In a world increasingly impacted by climate crises, the SHARE Hub emphasizes the urgent need for actionable, locally driven solutions that are informed by cutting-edge research and tailored to the needs of the most vulnerable communities.

Named in honor of Dr. Saleemul Huq, a pioneer in climate adaptation and resilience, the SHARE Hub brings together global leaders from academia, government, civil society, and local communities. Its mission is to ensure that research not only informs policy but also catalyzes tangible actions on the ground. By fostering collaboration and promoting knowledge exchange, the SHARE Hub aims to lead the way in crafting effective, inclusive, and sustainable responses to climate emergencies.

COP29 PROGRAMMING THEMES

Capacity Building/Co-creating knowledge

Capacity Building/Co-creating knowledge

Building capacity is essential to ensure that all communities, especially those most vulnerable to climate impacts, can actively participate in and benefit from climate action. Capacity building fosters the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary for communities to adapt to environmental changes and implement sustainable solutions.

Children, Youth and Health

Children, Youth and Health

Children and youth are among the most vulnerable to the health impacts of climate change, yet they also represent powerful agents of change in building a sustainable future. Addressing their unique needs and empowering their voices is essential to ensuring long-term resilience and well-being.

Finance and Investment

Finance and Investment

Unlocking and directing finance is critical to scaling up climate action and ensuring that resources reach the communities and ecosystems most affected by climate change. Effective climate finance and investment strategies are needed to bridge the gap between global commitments and local realities, enabling the implementation of sustainable, resilient solutions.

Just transition and Research

Just transition and Research

A Just Transition emphasizes the need for fairness and inclusivity as societies shift from fossil fuels to sustainable energy systems, ensuring that no one is left behind in the move towards a greener economy. This approach seeks to protect workers, communities, and industries affected by the transition while promoting social and economic equity.

LLA and Resilience

LLA and Resilience

Locally Led Adaptation (LLA) is crucial for building resilient water, food, and agricultural systems that can withstand the impacts of climate change. By empowering local communities to lead adaptation efforts, we can create solutions that are context-specific, sustainable, and inclusive.

Loss and Damage

Loss and Damage

Loss and Damage recognizes the irreversible impacts of climate change that go beyond adaptation, affecting lives, livelihoods, and ecosystems. As climate-related disasters become more frequent and severe, addressing Loss and Damage is critical to supporting communities that face profound and often intangible losses.

Nature, People and Climate

Nature, People and Climate

The interconnectedness of nature, people, and climate highlights the vital role that healthy ecosystems play in supporting resilient communities and mitigating climate change. Protecting and restoring natural systems can enhance biodiversity, secure livelihoods, and buffer communities against climate impacts.

Urban and Mobility

Urban and Mobility

As urban areas grow and face increasing climate challenges, resilient and sustainable urban development is essential for protecting communities and ensuring livable cities. Urban mobility plays a critical role in this transformation, offering opportunities to reduce.
