The topic of Loss and Damage from Human induced climate change has been a politically sensitive one for many years as the developed countries feared that it would open them to claims of compensation based on their liability.  It was only in COP19 in Warsaw, Poland in 2013 that all the countries in the UNFCCC agreed to set up the Warsaw International Mechanism on Loss and Damage to take care of the following three aspects Avert, Minimise and Address Loss and Damage.  However for many people coming to this issue for the first time it not really clear what these words mean.
