ICCCAD National Capacity-Building Training 2025 under CAP-RES project
Reflection of COP29: Strategies for Effective Climate Advocacy and Action
Date: January 27-28, 2025 Venue: Dhaka
Application Deadline: January 20, 2025
About the Training
The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was a pivotal event in global climate governance, held against the backdrop of increasing urgency to tackle climate change. It brought together leaders, negotiators, researchers, and civil society to assess progress, discuss new commitments, and chart a path for future climate action. While COP29 saw some advances, such as scaling up adaptation finance, introducing a small pledge for loss and damage, and promoting youth and indigenous participation, it faced criticism for not achieving sufficient progress on phasing out fossil fuels and addressing climate finance gaps. These outcomes highlight the need for informed discussions at the national level to understand the challenges, contextualize global commitments, and align them with local priorities.
To address these challenges, ICCCAD is organizing a two-day national capacity-building training under the Capacity Strengthening of Multi-Actors to Limit Climate Change Impacts and Enhance Resilience (CAP-RES) project, supported by the Embassy of Sweden.
This training aims to bridge the gap between global climate negotiations and local actions, empowering participants with the knowledge and tools to advance effective climate advocacy and action in Bangladesh.
